This year's offering for Record Store Day by The Who is the original soundtrack album used in the 1975 Tommy film. The film is based on the original studio album that was released by The Who in 1969. Pete Townshend oversaw the production of this double-LP recording that returned the music to it's rock roots and features guests such as Sir Elton John, Ann Margret, Ron Wood and Eric Clapton amongst others This Record Store Day release comes as a 2LP Colour housed in a replica of the original gatefold sleeve.

Regarded as one of the most important albums of all time, Tommy is a rock opera about a Deaf Dumb and Blind Boy, released in 1969, it reached number 2 in the UK charts and #7 in the US. The album contains songs such as ""Pinball Wizard"", ""The Acid Queen"" & ""I'm Free"" and has been mastered by long time Who engineer Jon Astley from the original tapes and is packaged in an original sleeve with obi and certificate of authenticity. This black vinyl version is engineered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios using a half-speed mastering technique which produces a superior vinyl cut.

Written and composed by guitarist and vocalist Pete Townshend, ""Tommy"" was about a deaf, dumb and blind boy. The album launched the band into mainstream stardom and to the international forefront. It has now sold over 20 million copies and is considered one of the most influential records of all time. It includes songs such as ""I'm Free,"" ""Pinball Wizard,"" ""Sensation,"" ""Christmas,"" as well as the dramatic ten-minute instrumental, ""Underture."" The storytelling nature of the record introduced the heavy potential of lengthy conceptual narratives to rock music. We're grateful for it.
