Sleep return with Hempispheres, the first new album from the doom-metal originators in eight years. Founder Al Cisneros (bass, vocals) is joined by Dale Crover (Melvins, Redd Kross) on drums and Bubba Dupree (Void) on guitar, a lineup that trades some of the band's characteristic overload for space, nuance, and interplay. Five tracks, roughly 38 minutes, and a road map that rewards patience over familiarity.
