The period 1976-1983 is widely regarded as Rainbow´s classic era, known for ist epic compositions, mystical lyrics, and extended improvisational live jams. The shows featured a dark, brooding, and guitar-led heavy metal sound with neoclassical influences. Songs were often stretched in length to accommodate extensive solos, particularly by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and drummer Cozy Powell.
